Creating and Managing Custom App Roles
Before you begin
Restriction: You can not change access rights assigned to default roles
(Administrator, Co-owner, Viewer) and you can not delete default roles. If you
require other rights, create custom roles and assign users to them.
To create,
modify, or delete custom roles, you or others must have Manage Access rights. By
default, members of the Administrators and Co-owners roles possess these rights.
Additionally, you can assign Manage Access rights to a custom role.About this task
App access management enables you to exceed the restrictions of default roles and create roles tailored to your organization. You can manage access to those roles as you would for the default roles.
Procedure
- Open the Apps view, and beside the published app whose roles you want to manage, select .
- In the Console Access tab, select Roles.

Task Procedure Creating a Custom Role Default roles may not cover every access requirement. SOTI Snap provides the ability to create roles to suit your needs. Follow the steps below to create a custom role: - Select the button.
- From the Add Role pop-up, enter a Role Name. Next, select Add.
- In the Custom dropdown, select to list the custom roles.
- Select your new custom role, and select App Permissions.
- In the App Permissions panel, select the checkbox for each permission you want to give the role.
- Select Save.
Modifying a Custom Role If the requirements of a custom role have changed, you may update the rights assigned to it by performing the following steps: - Pick your role from the Custom dropdown list.
- Select App Permissions.
- In the App Permissions panel, select or clear the checkbox for each permission you want to enable or deny the role.
- Select Save.
Note: This only applies to users the next time they log in.Deleting a Custom Role If a custom role is no longer required, you may remove it by performing the following steps:
CAUTION: Deleting a custom role removes the role's access from all role members and cannot be undone. Make sure the remaining access, if any, is appropriate for all users before deleting a role.- Select to expand the Custom dropdown list and reveal the role names.
- Beside your custom role, select More. Select Delete.
- In the Delete Role? confirmation window, select Delete.
Results: SOTI Snap removes the custom role from the list.
