Managing Applications

About this task

Configure SOTI MobiControl to apply a web content filter on the network traffic from specific applications. A web content filter on application traffic improves security by blocking malicious sites, increases productivity by limiting distractions, reduces bandwidth usage, aids in regulatory compliance, and protects sensitive data.

Adding Applications Individually

About this task

If you have a small set of applications requiring web traffic filtering, you may add them individually.

To configure individual applications for network traffic filtering, do the following:

Procedure

  1. From Manage Applications, select Add to create a new entry row for application information.
  2. In Application Name, enter the name of the application for web traffic filtering. SOTI MobiControl finds and inserts the Application Bundle Identifier.
    Note: If SOTI MobiControl does not find the identifier, check the application's name, and retry.
  3. Repeat these steps for each application requiring web traffic filtering. Select Save.

Importing an Application List

About this task

If you have a standard or large set of applications requiring web traffic filtering, you may add them using a prepared CSV file.
Note: Each line of the CSV file must be in the format Application Bundle Identifier, Application Name.

To import a list of applications for network traffic filtering, do the following:

Procedure

  1. From Manage Applications, select Import.
  2. Select Browse to locate and open your CSV file.
  3. Select Import. Manage Applications lists the applications from your CSV file.
    Important: Validate that all applications are present. Missing applications may indicate a problem with your CSV file.
  4. Select Save.
