Feature Control (tvOS)

To guarantee the secure operation of tvOS devices, SOTI MobiControl provides on-device restrictions controlling its use and function.

Configure feature control when:

With the Feature Control profile configuration, you may turn off device features selectively. Applying the configuration at the individual or group level creates custom profiles for different users and locations in an organization.

Device Functionality

Allow Airplay incoming request

 Apple devices on the same network can stream content or mirror their displays on the Apple TV device (Requires supervision and tvOS 10.2 or later).

Allow automatic screen saver

 Enables the automatic screen saver (Requires tvOS 15.4 or later).

Allow modification of device name

 The user may change the device's name (Requires tvOS 11.0 or later).

Allow automatic device sleep

 The device can transfer automatically into sleep mode (Requires supervision and tvOS 9.0 or later).

Allow password proximity request

 tvOS devices can request passwords from nearby devices (Requires supervision and tvOS 12 or later).

Allow pairing with remote app

 Devices can pair with a remote app or Control Center widget (Requires supervision and tvOS 10.2 or later).

Set Date and Time automatically

 Date and time update automatically. The user cannot change the time (Requires supervision and tvOS 12.2 or later).

Applications

Delay Availability of Software Updates Software updates must wait a set period before becoming available to the device. Use Time of Delay to set the delay duration in days to a maximum of 90 days (Requires supervision and tvOS 12.2 or later).

Media Content

Movies Set the maximum rating for movies to:
  • Don't Allow Movies
  • General Audiences (G)
  • Parental Guidance Suggested (PG)
  • Parents Strongly Cautioned (PG-13)
  • Restricted(R)
  • No One 17 and Under Admitted (NC-17)
  • Allow All Movies
TV Shows Set the maximum rating for TV shows to:
  • Don't Allow TV Shows
  • All Children (TV-Y)
  • Older Children (TV-Y7)
  • General Audience (TV-G)
  • Parental Guidance Suggested (TV-PG)
  • Parents Strongly Cautioned (TV-14)
  • Mature Audience Only (TV-MA)
  • Allow All TV Shows
Apps Set the maximum rating for apps to:
  • Don't Allow Apps
    Important: This setting removes all App Store applications from the device. The user can still view the App Store's content but cannot download or install applications. All Enterprise Apps remain available to the user.

Allow Explicit Music & Podcasts Users can download music or podcasts containing explicit content.
