Pushing a File Using an Automation Rule

About this task

For certain device types you can use an automation rule to push a file in the SOTI Connect file store to a device.

To push a file in the file store to an eligible device using an automation rule:

Procedure

  1. On the menu bar, select the ☰ main menu button and select Rules.
    The Rules view opens.
  2. In the Rules view, select New Rule.
    The Add Rule wizard opens.
  3. In the Select Rule Type wizard panel, select Automation Rule, then select Next.
  4. In the Select Devices wizard panel, select the device or devices to which you want to push a file, then select Next.
  5. In the Setup wizard panel, in the If Statement(s) section, select the button.
    The Add If Statement dialog box opens.
  6. In the Add If Statement dialog box, select the conditions that must be met for this automation rule to be triggered. When done, select Add.
    For information on the fields in this dialog box, see Add If Statement.
  7. In the Setup wizard panel, in the Then Statement(s) section, select the button.
    The Add Then Statement dialog box opens.
  8. In the Add Then Statement dialog box, select Download File From File Store from the Action list.
    Note: Depending on the device and file type, the action might instead be Upload File From File Store, Upload Firmware From File Store, or something similar.
  9. Choose Select File and select the file you want to push, then select the content type of the file. When you done, select Add.
    The Add Then Statement dialog box closes, and the selected rule conditions and file are shown in the Setup wizard panel.
  10. In the Setup wizard panel, enter a name and description for the automation rule. When done, select Finish to complete the Add Rule wizard.

Results

The automation rule now pushes the selected file to the device or devices when the rule conditions are met.
