Pushing a File Using an Action Rule

About this task

For supported device types, you can use an Action Rule to automatically push a file from the File Store to one or more devices at a scheduled time.

Procedure

  1. From the SOTI Connect main menu, navigate to Rules.
  2. Select New Rule.
  3. In the wizard, provide a name and description for the rule.
  4. Select Action Rules, then select Next.
  5. In the Select Items tab, choose the device(s) to which you want to push a file, then select Next.
  6. In the Setup panel, under the Action(s) section, select the button. The Add an Action dialog box opens.

  7. From the Action list, select Download Firmware From File Store.
    Note: Depending on the device and file type, the action may appear as Download File From File Store, Download Firmware From File Store, or a similar option.
  8. Choose Select File, then locate the file you want to push to the device.
  9. Select Add. The Add an Action dialog box closes, and the selected file and content type appear in the Action(s) section of the Setup panel.
  10. Configure the date, time, and frequency for when the rule should push the file.
  11. Select Finish to complete the wizard.

Results

The Action Rule pushes the selected file to the chosen device(s) at the specified time.
