Prost! SOTI’s Bavarian Fun Night

There’s no better way to kick off this conference and visit to Germany than with a Bavarian Fun Night. Well, there’s one way… host the fun night at one of the oldest breweries in the world, Löwenbräukeller Beer Hall, during Oktoberfest!

Löwenbräukeller Beer Hall is an Oktoberfest must-see attraction. It’s an authentic and historic German Beer Hall, that dates back to 1861. The hall was heavily damaged during an air strike during World War II. It was finally reconstructed and re-opened in 1955. Their motto: “Nothing is impossible – anything can be done.” But what IS impossible is getting into the brewery as it’s sold out due to Oktoberfest. Have no fear… SOTI is your way into this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Accommodations – The Westin Grand Munich Hotel

This year SOTI SYNC will be hosted at the exclusive Westin Grand Munich in Arabellapark, a five-star conference hotel minutes from the heart of Munich, boasting first-class accommodations, conference facilities, spa, pool and fine dining. The Westin Grand Munich Hotel is located around the corner from the English Garden, one of the largest inner-city parks in the world, and the city center of Munich can be reached by direct transport connection in only a few minutes by local subway.

What Else is a Must See in Germany?

Munich is Germany’s third largest city with over 1.4 million people. Munich’s late September/early October temperature averages around 10°C (51°F). It’s perfect fall weather for getting out and exploring everything this historic city has to offer.

Oktoberfest

Noch ein Bier bitte. It’s the 188th edition of the world’s largest beer festival, but Oktoberfest is about more than beer; it’s a celebration of Bavarian culture. Check out the marksmanship of skilled German crossbow shooters. Listen to old-fashioned folk music. Take a bite of traditional German dishes like ochsenbraterei (roasted ox) or steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), or wet your whistle in one of the 30+ beer tents you’ll find across the fairgrounds.

Fun Fact: Approximately 6.9 million liters (1.8 million gallons) of beer is served at Oktoberfest.

Castle Neuschwanstein

Neuschwanstein is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. Part theatre, part fairytale, Neuschwanstein Castle embodies the soul of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, popularly known as 'mad King Ludwig'. Neuschwanstein was designed to be a hideaway for this reclusive king, as well as a palace evoking Medieval myth and fantasy. The castle was built by King Ludwig II intended as a private residence, until he died in 1886. It was opened to the public shortly after his death.

Fun Fact: Neuschwanstein welcomes almost 1.5 million visitors per year.

Nymphenburg Palace

Located in the west of the city, Nymphenburg Palace (Schloss Nymphenburg) and its extensive park are one of Munich's top sights. Royal splendor, lavishly decorated interior and romantic little castles in the park will make your visit worthwhile.

Fun Fact: The main building alone hosts more than 300,000 visitors per year.

Deutsches Museum

The Deutsches Museum is the world’s largest museum of science and technology with approximately 28,000 objects. You’ll see the first motorized aircraft from the Wright Brothers, the original Diesel engine, historic musical instruments, a planetarium and even a full-sized Faraday cage. Unfortunately, you won’t see any dinosaurs here.

Fun Fact: The Who, Elton John, and Jimi Hendrix have all performed at the Deutsches Museum.
