Regenerating PRK using Device Action

Before you begin

  • Using the FileVault configuration, make sure to enable the Store Personal Recovery Key in MobiControl option.
  • You must have the Manage PRK Encryption Certificate permission. See General Permissions for more information.

About this task

To regenerate a personal recovery key using a device action on supervised macOS devices:

Procedure

  1. Select the device for which you want to regenerate the Personal Recovery Key, in the Device Actions menu bar, select the REGENERATE RECOVERY KEY icon. The REGENERATE RECOVERY KEY dialog box appears.
    Note: In case of an issue with the FileVault payload sent earlier to the targeted device(s) or device group(s), a message appears prompting you to resend the FileVault payload.

    Also, a message may appear prompting to provide the Device Administrator or Device User credentials, enter the appropriate credentials to proceed.

  2. In the REGENERATE RECOVERY KEY dialog box, select REGENERATE RECOVERY KEY.

Results

You have successfully regenerated the personal recovery key!
