To use Apple Automated Device Enrollment (ADE):
Procedure
- Configure an ADE account to bind SOTI MobiControl to an MDM Server in Apple Business Manager - see Creating ADE Accounts.
-
Assign your devices in Apple Business Manager to the MDM server associated with the ADE account you configured in SOTI MobiControl.
At this point, the devices on the MDM server in Apple Business Manager are assigned to the ADE account but not included in an add devices rule in SOTI MobiControl.
-
Enable Automated Device Enrollment in one or more add devices rules - see Creating an Add Devices Rule. Select your ADE account and configure ADE settings in each add devices rule.
Note: Devices running iOS 13 or later must be supervised, and the enrollment for these is mandatory.
-
Assign the devices in your ADE account to the relevant add devices rule(s) - see Managing Automated Device Enrollment. To make SOTI MobiControl automatically assign all unassigned devices in your ADE account to a particular add devices rule, set this rule as a default for your ADE account - see Set Default Rule.
At this point, the devices on the MDM Server in Apple Business Manager are assigned to a particular add devices rule in SOTI MobiControl, and are ready to be enrolled.Note: If you are enrolling a previously activated device, you must wipe the device before it can be enrolled with ADE - see Wiping Devices.
Results
The ADE server token is valid for one year. When the token is near expiration, SOTI MobiControl issues a reminder to download a new ADE server token.
