Assigning a User Role to a Group

Before you begin

Ensure you have administrative privileges in SOTI Connect to manage groups and assign roles.

About this task

This task explains how to assign an existing user role to one or more groups in SOTI Connect. Assigning roles to groups allows all users within those groups to inherit the assigned permissions automatically.

Procedure

  1. From the SOTI Connect main menu, select Users and Permissions.
  2. In the left panel, select Groups tab.
  3. Under View All Groups, select one or more groups to which you want to assign a role.
  4. Select Assign Roles.
  5. In the Assign Roles dialog box, enable the roles toggle you want to assign to the selected group.
  6. Select Save.

Results

The selected roles are assigned to the chosen groups. All users within those groups now inherit the permissions defined by the assigned roles.
