Adding a Custom Attribute

Before you begin

Ensure you have administrative permissions to create and manage custom attributes in SOTI Connect.

About this task

You can create custom attributes to track specific, user-defined details for devices. Once created, these custom attributes can be applied to device types and will appear as selectable actions in the Device Details panel.

Procedure

1. From the SOTI Connect main menu, navigate to Administration.
2. In the left pane, select Custom Attributes.
3. Select New Custom Attribute. The New Custom Attribute window opens.

   

4. Enter a Custom Attribute Name. This name appears in the Custom Attributes list and identifies the attribute.
5. Select the Device Types to which the attribute applies.
6. Specify the Action Name for the custom attribute. This name appears as the label for the corresponding action in the Device Details panel.
7. Select a Custom Attribute Type from the following options:
   • Text
   • Float
   • Integer
   • Boolean
   • Datetime
   • Geolocation
   • IPv4 Address
8. Select Save.

Results

The custom attribute is created and appears as an action in the Device Details view for the specified device type or group.
