Define Signal Policy Schedules

Before you begin

Review Configure Signal Policy Settings to complete the previous step before continuing with this topic.

About this task

The scheduling phase in the SOTI MobiControl Signal Policy Wizard allows administrators to define when a policy becomes active. While scheduling is optional, it provides control over the policy's operating window.
Define Signal policy schedules to:
  • Control when policies run: Prevent policies from being active during off-hours or maintenance windows.
  • Reduce unnecessary alerts: Limit monitoring to relevant time frames to avoid noise from expected activity during non-critical hours.
  • Align with business hours: Match policy activation with working hours for better relevance and responsiveness.

Procedure

In the scheduling phase of the Signal Policy Wizard:
  1. Add an optional schedule for your policy that controls when the policy is active:
    Field Description
    Schedule Type

    Select from the following:

Always: the policy is always on and monitoring the conditions you set as soon as you save the schedule, with no default deactivation time.

Custom: Create a schedule that activates the policy on specific days and times (in UTC). You can also set optional activation and deactivation dates.

Enable Policy On Select the days of the week when the policy should be active.
Between Define the daily start and end times (in UTC) during which the policy is active on selected days.
Advanced Settings Expand this section to override default times. Adjust the start and end time fields, which are expressed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
Activation Date Set the specific date when the policy should begin.
Activation Time Set the exact time of day when the policy becomes active.
Set Deactivation Date Enable this option to define when the policy should stop.
Deactivation Date Set the specific date when the policy should end.
Deactivation Time Set the exact time of day when the policy becomes inactive.
Limit Action Execution Prevents actions in this policy from executing unless there is a change in status in the policy's condition(s).
Note: This option is available for conditions related to Signal properties.
Attention: This feature is incompatible when the Device Side Evaluation is enabled in the settings tab. See Configure Signal Policy Settings. If both are selected, an error message appears.
  2. Select Finish to save your policy.

Results

You have successfully created a Signal policy. If you do not set a specific activation schedule, the policy activates immediately.
