Classic Apps (MSI)
Use the Classic application type to deploy standard Windows applications (*.msi) to devices.
Before you begin
Important: Use this
only for Windows desktop devices running Windows 10 or later, Pro, Education, or
Enterprise editions. You must deploy the correct application type for the type of
computer. You can deploy 32-bit applications on both 32 and 64-bit computers, but
you cannot deploy 64-bit applications on 32-bit computers.
Procedure

In the Select Apps dialog box, choose Classic Apps (MSI) as the
app source.

Select Browse to upload an
.msi
file from a local or network file system, or drag the file into the designated field. -
Select
Configure to open the Advanced
Configurations dialog box.
- Review the application metadata including the display name, version, publisher, and description.

In the Installation Options section, configure how the application is
deployed:
- Required for System: Installs the application for all users on the
device.
- Accessible from App Catalog: Turn on this toggle to make the application available in the device's App Catalog.
- Optional for Install: The app becomes accessible by admin users of the device by installation through the App Catalog.

Configure the Advanced Options settings:
- Command Line Options: You can add settings to the
*.msi application and its installation using
command line options. Applications default to quiet installation, which
runs the installer without displaying events to the user.Note: Refer to Windows Installer documentation for supported command line options.
- Timeout: Select the amount of time the installer can spend attempting to install the *.msi application before timing out.
- Retry Attempts: Select the number of installation attempts before the installer stops trying to install.
- Retry Interval (in minutes): Select the time interval the installer should wait between retry attempts to install the application.
- Command Line Options: You can add settings to the
*.msi application and its installation using
command line options. Applications default to quiet installation, which
runs the installer without displaying events to the user.
- Select Save, then choose Add to include the application in the policy.
