Setting Up a SOTI XTreme Hub

About this task

Set up a SOTI XTreme Hub device to offload file distribution from the deployment server. SOTI XTreme Hubs can be installed on supported Windows or Linux devices and managed through the SOTI MobiControl console.

Supported Windows operating systems

  • Windows 10
  • Surface Pro
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2022
Important: Some Windows OS versions are no longer supported by SOTI XTreme Hubs. References to these versions are removed from the Agent Builder Service (ABS), which affects all versions of SOTI MobiControl. You can no longer enroll devices running these versions as a SOTI XTreme Hub device: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

Supported Linux distributions

  • Ubuntu 20.04 x64
  • Ubuntu 22.04 x64
  • CentOS 8 x64
  • CentOS 7 x64
Important: Only 64-bit Linux devices are supported.

To set up a SOTI XTreme Hub device:

Procedure

  1. Arrange your devices and device groups to maximize hub efficiency. See Arranging SOTI XTreme Hubs for layout guidance.
  2. Enroll the device as an XTreme Hub.
Important: Ensure the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the SOTI XTreme Hub matches the device’s full computer name. This is required for Android and Windows Mobile/CE devices to connect and retrieve files.
  3. Define the storage location for incoming files from the deployment server and specify the communication port the SOTI XTreme Hub uses to transfer files to devices. See Configuring Settings for SOTI XTreme Hubs.
  4. Set the fallback behavior for Android Plus or Windows Mobile/CE devices if they cannot retrieve files from their assigned SOTI XTreme Hub on the first attempt. See Establishing SOTI XTreme Hub Reconnection Settings.

Results

The SOTI XTreme Hub file transfer service is active. You can enroll additional XTreme Hub devices to improve load balancing and resiliency.
