Changing the Password of a SOTI MobiControl Local User Account

Before you begin

Allow users to change their account passwords must be enabled. If this option is not enabled, the SOTI MobiControl administrator can toggle it on by navigating to Global Settings > Console Settings > Access Control Policy.

Important: Available only for local SOTI MobiControl user accounts. You cannot use this procedure to update passwords for a directory services or IdP account.

About this task

Changing the password ensures the security of your SOTI MobiControl local user account. You may need to update your password if it is expiring, if your administrator requests it, or if you believe your credentials have been compromised.

To update the password for your local SOTI MobiControl account:

Procedure

  1. Hover over your account initials on the lower-left corner of the SOTI MobiControl web console. The menu expands to reveal a three-dots () icon.

  2. Select the three-dots () to display several account-level settings and system tools. You can also access the same settings by selecting the user account icon.
  3. From the available options, select Change Password.

  4. Enter the current password for the account to confirm your identity. Then enter a new password and confirm it in the final field.
    Note: Password changes apply only to your local account and must meet any complexity requirements set in the console’s security policies. See complexity requirements.
  5. Select Save to save your new password.

Results

After you change your password, your new credentials take effect immediately. You must use the updated password the next time you sign in to the SOTI MobiControl web console. If you are signed in on multiple devices or sessions, those sessions may require re-authentication.
