Windows Modern | Classic Apps (MSI)
Use this application type to send normative Windows applications (.msi) to your devices.
Important: Use this only for Windows desktop devices
running Windows 10 or later, Pro, Education, or Enterprise editions. You must deploy
the correct application type for the type of computer. You can deploy 32-bit
applications on both 32 and 64-bit computers, but you cannot deploy 64-bit
applications on 32-bit computers.
Selecting the App Type
Use the Select Apps dialog box when adding an applications to your app
policy. You do this when:
App Selection
App Source | Select the Classic Apps (MSI) option. |
Upload App File | Select Browse to select an MSI file from a local or network file system or drag the file into the field. |
Application Information
Review application information such as the display name, version, price, seller, and description.
Advanced Configurations
Select Configure when adding or editing an application in your app policy to open the Advanced Configurations dialog box, where you can further configure app settings.
Installation
Required for system | Once chosen, the app installs for the system (all users).
Under this option, you see the following toggle:

Optional for install | Once chosen, this app becomes accessible by admin users of the device to install through the App Catalog. |
Advanced Options
Command Line Options | You can add settings to the .msi
application and its installation using command line options.
Applications default to quiet installation, which runs the
installer without displaying events to the user. Note: Visit Windows Installer
documentation for more information on command
line options. |
Timeout | Select the time the installer attempts to install the .msi application before timing out. |
Retry Attempts | Select the number of installation attempts before the installer stops trying to install. |
Retry Interval (minutes) | Select the period between retry attempts the installer waits to install the application. |
