Using the Samsung Knox Container

Important: Samsung Knox 3.4 deprecated Knox Workspace containers. As such, SOTI MobiControl v15.0, and later, does not support the creation, modification, or deployment of Samsung Knox containers to devices. Suppose you have devices assigned a Samsung Knox container in an earlier version of SOTI MobiControl and have since upgraded to SOTI MobiControl v15.0 or later. In that case, the Knox container remains on the device, but you can not change or add device containers.

Tip: Consider migrating your Samsung Knox container devices to use Android Enterprise Managed Profiles, which offer similar containerization functionality.

This section consists of the following topics:

SOTI MobiControl supports the activation and usage of Samsung Knox Workspace on Samsung devices. Samsung Knox Workspace is a secure container that stores enterprise data on the phone, separating it from personal data. You can use SOTI MobiControl to manage your corporate data within the container.

Samsung Knox Workspace is not available on all Samsung devices. To enable the container, the Samsung device must support the API Knox v1 or later (visible in the Device Information panel).

The Android Plus platform subsumes Samsung devices with the activated Samsung Knox Workspace container. The Android Plus platform performs enrollment, remote control, and all other device management.

Note: Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment is another feature of the Samsung MDM platform, but it is completely independent of Samsung Knox Workspace. You do not need to enable one to use the other. See Using Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment for more information.
