Creating an Android Classic Device Policy

About this task

Create an Android Classic device enrollment policy.

Important: As of SOTI MobiControl v14.4, all new installations of SOTI MobiControl have Android Enterprise selected as the default Android Plus management style. To continue with this procedure, confirm the selection of either OEM Specific for All Android Devices or OEM Specific for Android 6.0 and Below (see Choosing an Android Deployment Type).

Procedure

  1. From the main menu, select Policies > Enrollment. The Enrollment Policies view displays.
  2. Select New Enrollment Policy. The Enrollment Policy wizard launches.
  3. Select the Android Classic platform. The General view displays.
  4. In the General view, enter a name and description for the policy. Enter a brief but descriptive name, especially if you plan to create more than one enrollment policies. Select Next.
  5. In the Groups view, choose if you require enrollment authentication. No authentication means that enrolling devices skips user verification. If you require authentication, select one of the following options:
    Password Type a single password for use across all devices that enroll with this policy.
    Directory Select Add button to add directory groups .

    Choose a directory service from the dropdown and use the Search Groups field to find a group.

    You can add a new directory service connection by selecting Manage Services.

    From the dropdown menu, choose Directory, Identity Provider or SOTI Identity (see Identity Management).

    Once you add the directory group, select a device group destination and applicable terms and conditions.

  6. Select Next. The Settings view displays.
  7. Select from the available settings then select Next. The Agent view displays.
  8. Select the manufacturers to display at enrollment. Select Manage Agents to add new device agents to the list.
  9. Select Finish to completion the new enrollment policy creation. The Enrollment Policy Info page displays. This page lists policy details and device enrollment options. You can also add *.apk and *.ini files from here.
  10. Select Ok to complete the process.
