Available Device Actions

Device actions are quick and simple operations such as locking a device remotely or sending a message to a device. You can execute device actions on:

While not all device types support all device actions, SOTI MobiControl notifies you of any restrictions or compatibility issues when executing the device action.

Tip: You can pin often-used actions to the top list of device actions in your device's information panel. See Bookmarking Device Actions.
Important: In July 2022, Samsung deprecated Samsung E-FOTA and replaced it with Samsung Knox E-FOTA. As a result, SOTI MobiControl 2024.1 no longer supports Samsung E-FOTA. SOTI MobiControl integrates Samsung Knox E-FOTA in future updates. Until then, you may continue using Samsung Knox E-FOTA to manage firmware on SOTI MobiControl enrolled devices via the Samsung Knox Admin Portal.
Tip: You can perform device actions on more than one device simultaneously. See Performing Device Actions on Multiple Devices.

You must have the correct permissions to send a device action. Send Action Commands is the category of permissions available for each device action. See Send Action Commands. The following table details the permissions required for available device actions.

Allow SOTI Surf Access The device user can access the SOTI Surf app. Manage SOTI Surf
App Feedback Update Uploads a report containing changes in the status of managed apps to Google Play servers.
Note: You can only use this action three times every 24 hours per device.

Block Exchange Access Blocks access to Microsoft Exchange email through SOTI MobiControl Enterprise Resource Gateway or Microsoft Exchange Server integration. Manage Device Exchange Access
Block SOTI Hub Access Prevents device users from accessing content within the SOTI Hub app. Manage SOTI Hub
Block SOTI Surf Access Prevents device users from accessing the SOTI Surf app. Manage SOTI Surf
Bypass Activation Lock Overrides the Apple activation lock on supervised iOS devices. Bypass Activation Lock
Cancel Firmware Upgrade Cancels a scheduled OTA Zebra device firmware upgrade. See Cancelling Scheduled Upgrades for more details. Firmware over the Air
Check-In Forces the selected devices to connect to SOTI MobiControl and accept configuration changes or updates. Check-In
Clear Restrictions Removes any user-configured restrictions from the device. Clear Restrictions
Clear SOTI Hub Cache Deletes all cached content from the SOTI Hub app. Manage SOTI Hub

Delete Removes the selected devices from SOTI MobiControl management. Delete

Disable Disconnects a device from the SOTI MobiControl deployment server. Disconnected devices do not receive configuration changes or updates from SOTI MobiControl until they are re-enabled. Enable/Disable
Disable Agent Upgrade Prevents devices from upgrading to the latest version of the SOTI MobiControl Device Agent. Upgrade Agent
Disable Kiosk Screen Disables Kiosk on the device (Android, Windows CE, and Windows Desktop Classic). Manage Device Administrator
Disable Lost Mode Disables managed lost mode on Apple devices.
Restriction: You can not disable Lost Mode if a device with a passcode loses network connectivity. You must restore it through recovery mode.

Play Sound Plays a sound from the device to locate it nearby. Lock

Reset Account Resets the enterprise binding for Managed Google Play accounts on Android Enterprise devices. The reset replaces any existing accounts and adds a new account from the selected enterprise binding. Reset Account

Send Message Write and send a message to the SOTI MobiControl Device Agent on your devices. Send Messages

Set Device Name Changes the name of the device on the actual device. You can use macros to generate names automatically. Rename

Updates the operating system of supported Apple devices to the latest available version.

For supported Apple devices, download and / or install the latest or an available version of the operating system.

Restriction: This Apple device must be Supervised.
Tip: A letter after the version number [such as 16.4(a)] refers to a Rapid Security Response OS version.
