Using a Syslog Server
You can send all log information from SOTI MobiControl to an external syslog server. All event logs such as those generated by devices, users, and the system will be automatically relayed to the connected syslog server, where you can peruse them in a single location. Log messages will also remain available in their current locations throughout the SOTI MobiControl console.
Note: Data truncation settings will not apply log messages sent to the syslog but will affect log messages retained in the database.
Use one of the following options as a syslog server with SOTI MobiControl:
- Kiwi Syslog Server
- Splunk Syslog server
- RSyslog (Linux only)
Note: While SOTI MobiControl supports both RFC 3164 and RFC 5424 as message formats, we recommend using RFC 5424 whenever possible.
