Setting Up a Shared Network Location

About this task

The FS supports shared network locations for file storage. An FS cluster needs a shared network location to function. Perform the following to set up a shared network location in Microsoft Windows.

Procedure

  1. Identify a machine that is accessible over the network by all cluster nodes.
  2. Create or locate a folder inside its file system.
  3. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
  4. From the Sharing tab, select Share.
  5. Search for and select the user required to run the FS Microsoft Windows Service.
Note: By default, the FS Microsoft Windows Service starts with a 'Local System' account user. Make sure the shared folder is accessible to the 'Local System' account user or change the Log On user to a user who has access.
  6. Provide the user with read and write access permissions.
  7. Customize and make a note of the shared network location path.
  8. During FS installation, enter the shared network location as \\<computer_name>\<path_to_folder>.
