Volume Purchase Program (VPP) v2 Implementation in SOTI MobiControl 2025.1

SOTI MobiControl has deprecated the use of VPP v1 and now supports VPP v2, affecting the setup process and Reclaim Ownership action during App Store License Management. This change affects token management, ownership transfers, and system configuration requirements.
Important: SOTI MobiControl 2025.0 and earlier use VPP v1. SOTI MobiControl 2025.1 and later implement VPP v2.

Key Changes in VPP v2

Apple Notification Endpoint Requirement

When setting up SOTI MobiControl 2025.1 in an on-premise environment, ensure that the endpoint host/mc/apple/vpp/notifications is publicly accessible. Apple uses this endpoint to send VPP v2-related event notifications to SOTI MobiControl.

Token Migration from VPP v1 to VPP v2

Uploading a server token used on a VPP v1 environment into a VPP v2 environment automatically claims ownership without displaying a consent dialog. In SOTI MobiControl 2025.0 and earlier, this action required explicit user consent.

Ownership Transfer Between Environments

If two SOTI MobiControl environments running VPP v1 share the server token, and environment 1 owns it, upgrading environment 2 to 2025.1 (VPP v2) transfers ownership automatically.

Distributed Environments and Ownership Transfer

If the primary Deployment Server (DS) is down in a distributed environment without a load balancer, selecting Reclaim Ownership transfers the token to the secondary DS to maintain VPP access.
Note: This only applies to multi-DS environments.

These updates ensure seamless integration with Apple's latest VPP framework while automating ownership transitions and improving token management.
