Device Inactivity Profile

The Device Inactivity profile configuration enables you to configure actions when a device is inactive (screen not used) for a specified amount of time. The available actions are Play Media, Enable App Cache Wipe and Enable Script Execution.

Inactivity Details

Function Definition
Device Inactivity Timer

Duration of device inactivity before configured actions get triggered.

Device User Confirmation Toggle to display a confirmation message to the device user.
  • Confirmation Timer

Duration the confirmation message displays.

  • Confirmation Message

A message displayed to the device user indicating the device is about to become inactive.

Function Definition
Enable Play Media

Toggle to play media on the device when it becomes inactive.

  • Default Media Path (mandatory)

The default video file to play when no scheduled media is available.

Note: To display images, create a video file with images.
  • Welcome Image Path

The image shown on the device when it first enters inactivity.

  • Play Duration

The duration the welcome image displays.

  • Add Scheduled Media
Select the video files to play and configure how long and how often to play them.

Enable App Cache Wipe
Toggle to wipe app data when the device becomes inactive.
Note: Configuring Enable App Cache Wipe whitelists any package name starting with net.soti.xxx.
  • Add an Application name or Bundle Identifier

Specify the apps or package names to wipe data from when the device becomes inactive.

Enable Script Execution

Toggle to send the script on the device when it becomes inactive.

  • Add Script Configuration

Select Add to set up a new event configuration, specifying the actions to perform if a device fails to connect with SOTI MobiControl within the designated time. Choose a script from the dropdown menu to implement the configuration. To create scripts, see Manage Scripts.

Note: You can add multiple scripts under a single payload. To delete a script, hover over the script name you want to remove and select the Delete icon that appears.
