Declarative Profiles

A Declarative profile enables your Apple Device to automatically apply and revoke profile configurations independently. (This feature is not available for Reactive profiles).

Declarative Profile Configurations are only available for the following Apple device families:

  • iOS / iPadOS
  • Shared iPad User

For these devices, you have the option to select either a Declarative Profile or a Reactive Profile.

In contrast, all other Apple device families default to using the Reactive Profile.

The Reactive Profile is Apple's original Mobile Device Management protocol. This profile uses polling and check-ins to manage devices.

The Declarative Profile is Apple's updated Mobile Device Management protocol. This profile uses a publish-subscribe architecture to manage devices.
