Enabling and Viewing a BitLocker Recovery Key for Windows Modern

A BitLocker recovery key is a unique 48-digit password. The key unlocks your system if BitLocker cannot to confirm that an attempt to access SOTI MobiControl is authorized.

Enabling the BitLocker Recovery Key Permission

About this task

You must enable View Decrypted Personal Recovery Key permission to view the BitLocker recovery key.

Procedure

Select Users and Permissions from the main menu.
Select Users > Local Users.
Select the user that needs the permission. The user's General Permissions page opens.
Select Allow next to View Decrypted Personal Recovery Key.
Select Save.

Results

You have enabled View Decrypted Personal Recovery Key and can view the BitLocker Recovery Key for Windows Modern devices.

Viewing a BitLocker Recovery Key for Windows Modern

Before you begin

You must Enabling the BitLocker Recovery Key Permission to view the BitLocker recovery key.

About this task

You have the option to view a BitLocker key to access SOTI MobiControl.

To view a Bitlocker Recovery Key:

Procedure

Select Devices from the main menu.
Select the Windows Modern device.
In Device Details tab, scroll down to the Security section.
Select View next to BitLocker Recovery Key(s). The Bitlocker Recovery Keys dialog box opens.
Use the recovery key to unlock your disk for the Windows Modern device.

Results

You can view and copy the BitLocker Recovery Key for Windows Modern devices.
