Troubleshooting a Failure During Set-up

About this task

Use the following procedure if you have completed the steps to establish a Microsoft Exchange Server Configuration and received one of the following error messages:

Error message Occurs when
Failed to connect to the exchange server using the specified connection parameters. This might also occur due to the time it takes for permissions to propagate to Azure. Furthermore, required modules may be missing. Please refer to the Management Server logs to identify the missing modules. Are you sure you want to save the changes?

Saving the Exchange server configuration or selecting Done in the Create Exchange Server Connection dialog box causes SOTI MobiControl to attempt to connect to the Microsoft Exchange server.

The error occurs when SOTI MobiControl passes credentials provided by the customer to establish the connection.

Failed to test Exchange Server Connection. Please consult the upgrade handler log for details and recovery actions. The SOTI MobiControl installer fails when connecting to the Microsoft Exchange server with credentials used for the previous SOTI MobiControl version.

To correct the error, do the following:

  1. Open the Management Server logs and search for the following message:
The term 'Connect-ExchangeOnline' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file,
or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path
    is correct and try again.
  2. If the message is logged, you must install the missing module. To install the module, open PowerShell as an Administrator.
  3. At the prompt, enter Install-Module -Name ExchangeOnlineManagement. Press Enter.
  4. Respond Y (Yes) to all the prompts.
    Module installation via PowerShell
  5. Try again to create a new connection or edit an existing one. See Creating the Connection and Downloading the Certificate.
Note: Verify there are no incomplete or incorrectly completed fields in the Exchange Server Connection configuration.
