Remote Protocol Adapter (PA) Update

The Remote PA Update is useful for setups involving many machines hosting different SOTI Connect components. When the management server (MS) is updated to a newer version, it automatically triggers SOTI Connect version updates on other (remote) machines where PAs are installed.

This feature is available for SOTI Connect 2025.0 and later. Starting with updates from SOTI Connect 2025.0, the Remote PA Update executes for newer versions.
Important: The Remote PA Update is not available when updating from SOTI Connect 2024.2 to SOTI Connect 2025.0.
Warning: For SOTI Connect installations with over 300 Protocol Adapters (PAs), disable rules involving file downloads during the Remote PA Update period. The Remote PA Update begins automatically after the main Management Server (MS) is upgraded to a new version. Therefore, disable rules that include actions such as Firmware Download or Certificate Deployment before updating the MS. Once the PAs are updated, re-enable these rules.
Warning: In SOTI Connect versions 2025.0 and 2025.0.1, automatic PA updates may fail when installing SOTI Connect in environments with network speed limitations. See Automatic Remote Protocol Adapter (PA) Update Failures for more details.
To use the Remote PA feature, you must satisfy the following prerequisites:
  • PA must be able to connect to the MS.
  • The File Store (FS) service needs to be available before and during the update.
  • Use the existing active root certificate when updating MS to a new version; otherwise, remote PAs cannot connect.
To view the update status for the PAs, log in to the SOTI Connect console and navigate to Administration > System Management. On the System Management page, select System Architecture to see your listed PAs. The Update Status column displays the following:
  • Up to Date
  • In Progress
  • Needs Update

You can manually update the PA if needed/preferred. To do so, select the PA with a Needs Update status in the Update Status column, then select Update Protocol Adapter Version Remotely in the bottom bar.

Note: The action is only available when the PA is not up to date.
