Deploying Windows OS Image

Before you begin

Make sure you have the Windows OS image configured in SOTI MobiControl. See Creating Windows OS Image for more details.

About this task

This task provides instructions on deploying a Windows OS image configuration.

Note: You can deploy a Windows OS image to more than one device or device group at a time.
Note: When you deploy an OS image, the system performs a compatibility check between the OS image and the devices based on:
  • Device manufacturer
  • Hard disk partition: MBR or GPT
  • System Type: 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Disk size
  • BIOS mode: UEFI or Legacy

To deploy the Windows OS image configuration:

Procedure

  1. Choose a Windows Modern device to deploy the configured OS image to.
  2. Choose the appropriate bootable media type from:
    • PXE Server
    • Internal Disk
  3. For Internal Disk, enter a valid path for Bootable Media Path that has the WinPE image and the .sdi file.
  4. Select the Windows OS image you want to deploy from the list.
  5. Select the enrollment policy from the list to enroll the device once the OS image deployment completes.
  6. Select Deploy to continue deploying the OS image to the selected device.

Results

Once the OS image deployment process starts, an intermediate modal opens with details of the deployment processes. Selecting the "OK" button docks the modal to the right. The modal expands when in use, providing details of all the image creation and deployment processes running in an image summary modal, which updates every five seconds. To clear the completed or failed deployment processes, select the "Clear" button.
Note: For optimum performance, do not leave processes in the modal for an extended period.
