Defining the Frequency of LDAP Sync

About this task

SOTI MobiControl stores information about LDAP users such as their name, telephone number, and group memberships for any device in the system that has an associated LDAP user. You can specify how frequently information about directory users associated with devices should be synced.

The default and recommended frequency is every day, and it should not be more frequently than the most frequent Update Schedule. The lowest frequency is every six months. The LDAP refresh is performed during device check-in where the device has an associated user that has LDAP information older than the defined frequency value. LDAP information for a user may therefore be out of date if a user’s device is not communicating with the SOTI MobiControl server. Users with multiple devices are updated if any of their devices check in.

If you perform a manual check in of a device, it overrides the LDAP sync frequency to update LDAP information.

To define the directory sync frequency:

Procedure

  1. Select Global Settings from the main menu.
  2. From the Settings tree on the left, select Console Settings > Directory Service Sync Frequency.
  3. In the Directory Service Sync Frequency page that opens (see Directory Service Sync Frequency), define the required frequency using the Refresh Frequency controls.
  4. Click Save.
