SOTI Apps Server Extension for SOTI Hub

SOTI Hub is a secure portal that allows your device users to securely access your corporate documents. The SOTI Apps Server wizard installs extensions on your WebDAV machine to provide additional functionality to SOTI Hub such as download resumption and intermittent search.

Pre-Requisite Information

Perform these actions before you launch the installation wizard to ensure a smooth installation.

  1. Ensure that you have administrator rights to the server and that it has WebDAV enabled and configured according to the steps described at Setting Up a WebDAV Server.
  2. Check your server compatibility. The SOTI apps Server component is compatible with the 64-bit version of the following servers:
    • Windows Server 2008
    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • Windows Server 2012
    • Windows Server 2012 R2
  3. Install .NET Framework 4 or later after configuring IIS as described at Setting Up a WebDAV Server.
  4. Install ASP.NET 4.5 or later after configuring IIS as described at Setting Up a WebDAV Server.
  5. On IIS, ensure that your application pool is version 4.0 and the application pool identity is set to LocalSystem .

Once you have completed these steps, you can install the SOTI apps Server Extension.

Installing SOTI apps Server Extension

Install the SOTI apps server extension on the WebDAV server machine. You must have administrator rights to run the installer.

  1. Download the installer from the MobiControl Download page onto your WebDAV machine.
  2. Right-click on the setup.exe and select Run as Administrator to open the SOTI apps Server Installation Wizard.
  3. Click Next to read and accept the End-User License Agreement and then click Next again.
  4. Select the SOTI Hub radio button from the list of installation components and click Next.
  5. Select the website(s) on which you want to install the WebDAV component and click Next.
  6. Review the summary to make sure all the details are correct and then click Install to complete the installation of the SOTI Hub server extension.
  7. Once the Installation Wizard notifies you that the installation is successful, click Finish and you can continue on to deploying SOTI Hub to your devices.

After you have installed the SOTI apps Server extension, you can proceed to distributing the SOTI Hub app to your devices. Refer to Distributing SOTI Hub for more information. You can also go to SOTI Hub for more general information.

Note

You can also use the installation wizard to repair errors in the most recent installation by fixing missing or corrupt files, shortcuts and registry entries.

Uninstalling SOTI apps Server Extension

You must have administrator rights to run the un-installation.

  1. Double-click on the setup.exe to open the SOTI apps Un-installation Wizard.
  2. Choose the Remove option and click Next.
  3. Click Remove to confirm and start the removal.
  4. The SOTI apps Setup Installation Wizard will notify you when the removal is complete.

Note

While The SOTI apps Server Installation wizard also contains a server component for SOTI Surf, you cannot install the SOTI Surf component on the same machine as the SOTI Hub extension. The installation wizard will sense the installed SOTI Hub extension and attempt to run the uninstallation process rather than start a new installation for SOTI Surf.
