Recording a Remote Control Session

About this task

You can record video from a user's device screen and audio from the microphone during remote control sessions.

The default recording time without audio is three minutes, and the maximum file size for video with audio is 15 MB. You can have these defaults increased or decreased by contacting your account manager or technical support. SOTI XSight records up to three video-only remote control sessions at a time.

Procedure

To start recording a remote control session:

Select the Record Video Only button on the remote control toolbar.
If you also want to include audio input from the device's microphone in the recording, hover over Record and select Record Video With Device User's Voice. A prompt asks the user to accept terms and conditions. The recording starts once the device user accepts.

To pause recording:

Hover over Stop Recording then select Pause Recording.

To resume recording:

Select Resume Recording next to Stop Recording.

To stop recording a remote control session:

Select Stop Recordingon the remote control toolbar.
Once you have stopped recording, SOTI XSight processes the recording and attaches it to the incident, where you can replay, download, or delete it.

Results

CAUTION: Terminating the remote control session during a recording, or before processing completes, may result in the loss of the recording.
