Enrolling Zebra Sled RFD-40 & RFD-90
About this task
Important: MQTT
communication between SOTI Connect and Zebra Sleds uses the
SOTI-SDK-MQTT protocol, not Zebra-JSON-RPC (used for Zebra printers). Ensure the
MQTT server is registered with SOTI-SDK-MQTT before proceeding.
- Download and install the latest 123RFID Desktop tool from Zebra RFID Software.
- Download the certified firmware for your device:
- RFD40: Zebra RFD40 Downloads
- RFD90: Zebra RFD90 Downloads
Note: Verify firmware compatibility with your version of SOTI Connect using the Certified Device List. - Connect the Sled to your computer via USB.
- Obtain the MQTT root certificate and MQTT server settings (typically uploaded to SOTI Connect File Store).
- Launch the 123RFID Desktop tool.
- Locate the reader and connect to the Sled.
- Confirm the installed firmware version. If the firmware is outdated, select Firmware and upgrade the Sled.
- After firmware update, configure the region.
- Select .
- Scroll to .
- Go to , apply Wi-Fi settings and select Connect.
- Wait for the green Wi-Fi icon, then select Get Details to confirm Status and IP Address.
- Select the End Point tab, then configure as follows:
Configuration Name Setting Protocol MQTT TLS URL Enter MQTT server address Port 8883 Keep Alive 30 seconds Tenant ID Enter applicable Tenant ID (if used) Clean Session Enable Reconnect Delay Default Host Verify Host Username Enter RBAC username (max 16 characters) Password Enter RBAC password (max 16 characters) - Select Update.
- Wait for the confirmation dialog that settings were applied.Note: If the message does not appear, re-apply MQTT settings and select Update.
- Select Next.
- In Certificate Management configure the
following:
Configuration Name Setting Interface MQTT Certificate Type ca_cert Select Certificate Upload the .pemcertificate downloaded from the File Store and select Install. - Select Next.

- Select Reboot.
- In the SOTI Connect console, check the notification bell for the new device discovery and enrollment.
