Failover Setup
In SOTI Connect, a manual failover setup means there is a separate server with SOTI Connect installed, configured to function as a backup in case of the main, active installation being nonfunctional. Typically, the active instance and failover instance are hidden behind a load balancer or as part of a cluster. This provides the ability to transition between instances seamlessly when the failover is needed.
A failover instance can be configured by running the SOTI Connect installer.
Warning: Active and failover instance services cannot be active at the same
time. It is possible for both services to run background activities in a common database
and cause conflicts, so ensure only one instance service is running at a time. It is
strongly recommended that, during the replacement process (when the failover instance
service becomes the active, and the previously active instance service becomes the
failover or inactive), you change the startup mode for Windows in the active instance
service to Manual, and in the failover instance service to
Auto. This prevents a situation where multiple SOTI Connect services are running simultaneously.
