Upgrading your Zebra device’s firmware ensures your devices are up-to-date with the
latest security and performance enhancements. Use the Upgrade firmware action on devices
enrolled in LifeGuard OTA to schedule and automate your device upgrades.
Procedure
On the console, find the required device or device group and select
Upgrade Firmware from the Device
Actions menu. The Upgrade Firmware dialog
box appears.
The dialog box lists the selected devices grouped by their device model
and current firmware version.
Details
From the Target Firmware drop-down list, select the
required firmware version for each of the device groups.
Tip: For devices running Android 13 or
earlier, select Latest Any to deploy the latest
available firmware to your target devices.
Network and Power
Decide on the Network Type for the upgrade:
Wi-Fi Only: To perform the upgrade only over Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi or Cellular Data: To perform the upgrade over both Wi-Fi and
cellular data based on availability.
Select the required battery level for the upgrade from the Minimum
Battery Level(%) For Installation drop-down menu.
Important: Upgrades might fail if the minimum
battery level is below 30%.
Enable the Install Only While
Charging toggle to ensure upgrades occur only when the device is
plugged in and charging.

attempting the upgrade during that window for up to 28 days. For example, if
the device comes online during the window on day 14, the firmware
installs.

a duration for which users can delay their scheduled upgrade.
Important: Postponing installation is not
possible when toggling on the Install Only While Charging option.

appears during the upgrade.
Select Upgrade Firmware to start the firmware
upgrade.
Results
The targeted device(s) undergo a firmware upgrade.
Note: Watch the upgrade status in the device's Device Information
panel, under the Firmware Upgrades section of the Device Details tab. A success
message appears if the firmware upgrade on the selected devices completes as
requested. If any selected devices fail to upgrade, a warning message appears at the
bottom of the dialog box. You can expand the message to see the failure
details.
