Converting User Mode Registration to Shared Mode Registration

These steps describe how to change devices registered into Microsoft Entra ID as Microsoft User mode to Microsoft Shared mode.

About this task

This procedure assumes you have an Android device registered into Microsoft Entra ID as Microsoft User Mode and would like to convert to Microsoft Authenticator's Shared Device Mode.

Procedure

Factory reset your Android device.
Unassign the current app policy.
In SOTI MobiControl, navigate to App Policy > Microsoft Authenticator > Manage App Config, then do one of the following:
- Create a new app policy with Shared Device Mode enabled.
- Change the current app policy to Shared Device Mode enabled.
Assign the new app policy or the changed policy to your device groups.
Re-install the device with Microsoft Shared Device Mode configured for this app in App Policy. This registers the device into Microsoft Entra ID in Shared mode.
