Using Custom Data

Use custom data to create monitoring fields tailored to your specific needs. This can be particularly useful for monitoring aspects of third-party applications. SOTI MobiControl retrieves values for the custom data based on the device update schedule and whenever the device connects to the SOTI MobiControl deployment server.

Warning: Custom data definitions can retrieve sensitive information. The database stores the information in plain text, accessible through the WebConsole. Configure your custom data definitions to avoid collecting sensitive data you cannot secure.

This section has the following topics:

You can retrieve custom data for devices within the Android Plus, Linux, macOS, Windows Desktop, Windows Mobile/CE, and Windows Modern platforms.

You can view the custom data configured for a device within the device's Device Information panel under the Device Details tab.

For an explanation of the custom data Build Types see Custom Data.

Embedded Query

You can embed one query string within another using the following format: %KeyName%. You must define the embedded query before the outer query.

Query embedding works with static-type queries. There must be one static custom data type for every embedded query.

Example

    Key1=TXT://\RegLocationSSID.txt?LN=1
    Key2=REG://%Key1%
