Setting up an XTreme Hub
About this task
Speed up file transfer by offloading file distribution from the deployment server to Windows Desktop Classic devices.
You can enroll a desktop running one of the following operating systems as an XTreme Hub:
- Windows 10
- Surface Pro
- Windows Server 2016
- Windows Server 2019
Note: Support has been deprecated for select Windows OS versions for SOTI XTreme Hubs.
References to these versions have been removed from the Agent Builder Service (ABS),
which affects all versions of SOTI MobiControl. You can no longer
enroll devices running these versions as an XTreme Hub device: Windows Server 2008,
Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
To set up a Windows XTreme Hub device:
Procedure

Arrange your devices and device groups.
Refer to Arranging XTreme Hubs for advice on how to arrange your devices to achieve the best results.

Enroll a Windows desktop device as Windows Desktop Classic.
Follow the steps in Enrolling Windows Desktop Classic Devices. At step 11, choose Microsoft Windows XTreme Hub as the Manufacturer.Important: Make sure the FQDN of your Windows XTreme Hub device matches its full computer name so that Android and Windows Mobile/CE devices can connect to it and download files.

Update your Windows XTreme Hub device settings to specify where files from the deployment server are held on the Windows desktop and over which port the Windows XTreme Hub device should communicate with the devices its transferring file to.

Configure your Android Plus or Windows Mobile/CE device's XTreme Hub settings to specify how devices should behave if they fail to download files from the Windows XTreme Hub device the first time.
Follow the steps in Establishing XTreme Hub Reconnection Settings.
Results
Your XTreme Hub file transfer service is now set up.
You can add multiple Windows XTreme Hubs to your SOTI MobiControl instance.
