Feature Control (HoloLens)

Use this dialog box to configure individual device features.

Note: Feature control policies are only supported on HoloLens for Business devices.

General

Application

Auto Update of Store Applications Select whether automatic updating of Windows Store apps is enabled, disabled, or configurable by the device user.
Developer Model Unlock Select whether developer unlock on devices is enabled, disabled, or configurable by the device user.

Device Account

Enable Microsoft Account Connection Select this option to enable device users to connect their devices to a Microsoft account.

Search

Enable Search to Use Location Select this option to enable Bing search to use the location services on the device.

Settings

Enable Date Time Settings Select this option to enable the device user to change date and time settings.
Enable VPN Settings Select this option to enable the device user to change VPN settings.

Connectivity

Bluetooth

Enable Bluetooth Select this option to enable Bluetooth usage on the device.
Enable Bluetooth Discoverable Mode Select this option to enable the Bluetooth discoverable mode.
Set Bluetooth Device Name Enter a string the specifies the local Bluetooth device name.
Enable Bluetooth Advertising Select this option to enable the device to act as a source for advertisements.

Security and Privacy

Experience

Enable Cortana Select this option to enable the Cortana personal digital assistant.

System

Restrict Telemetry Data Determines the amount of diagnostic and usage telemetry data sent to Microsoft. Choose one of the following levels:
  • Security: Sends only data required to keep Windows secure
  • Basic: Sends basic data such as device information, app compatibility and usage data and data from the Security level
  • Enhanced: Sends security and basic data plus additional insights such as how Windows, Windows Server, System Center, and apps are used, how they perform, and advanced reliability data
  • Full: Sends all data necessary to identify and solve issues plus data from the Security, Basic and Enhanced data levels.

Levels are listed in order of least to most data sent.
Enable Location Service Select whether location services on devices are enabled, disabled, or configurable by device users.

Authentication

Enable EAP Fast Reconnect Select this option to enable EAP Fast Reconnect to be attempted for EAP Method TLS.

Security

Require Internal Storage Encryption Select this option to require internal storage to be encrypted.
