Rule Types

SOTI Connect has various types of rules you can apply to devices, device types, or device groups. Each rule type has a specific purpose.

Action Rules

Action rules are used to periodically perform one or more actions on a device.

Automation rules are used to monitor the state of a device and perform one or more actions based on changes to the device state.

Data collection rules are used to collect and store data from a device.

Enrollment rules are used to enroll a device in SOTI Connect and perform actions to set up the device.

Custom rules are created by advanced users to perform custom device tasks that fall outside the other rule types.

The code for a custom rule is not generated by the wizard, but instead must be written by the user.
