About the Remote Control Page
The remote control page enables you to remotely control a device so you can diagnose the problem and achieve a resolution.
On the remote control page you can execute actions on the device, see information about the device, and examine directories and files on the device. You can also send scripts to the device.
To display the remote control page in a separate window, click the button.
To move a separate remote control window back into the remote control page, click the button.
Remote Control Views
The following viewing options are available on a toolbar at the top right of the remote control page:
Displays an interactive image of the device. Clicking and dragging on the image using the mouse pointer emulates tapping and swiping the device touch screen.
When you select this view, the remote control toolbar appears on the right side of the page under the viewing options toolbar. |

Displays snapshot information from SOTI MobiControl about the device status. This includes device details (including battery, memory, and storage levels), configurations, installed applications, security details (certificates and quarantine), content library files, and any notes linked to the device.
When you select this view, the device snapshot toolbar appears on the right side of the page under the viewing options toolbar. You can quickly navigate to the device snapshot information you need by clicking the following bookmark buttons.

Downloads device logs to SOTI Assist and attaches them to the incident. In the incident details view you can preview or download the logs.
Note: Requires Android device agent version 14.0 or later.

Displays a tree view of the device's file system. You can search the file system for specific files and download them. | |||||||||||||
Displays a list of the tasks currently running on the device. On Windows CE and Windows Desktop devices you can also terminate running tasks. | |||||||||||||
Displays the administration web console for managing devices that lack a user interface. You do not need to be on the same network as the device.

Displays an SSH terminal window for the device.

Remote Control Toolbar
When you select the Remote Control view, the toolbar that appears at the right side of the page provides tools that enable you to control a subset of basic device functionality and to change how the device is displayed.
Zooms in the device view so you see a smaller area of the device screen in more detail. | |
Zooms out the device view so you see a larger area of the device screen in less detail. | |
Zooms the device view so that the entire device appears within the remote control page or window. | |
Zooms the device view so that the device appears at its actual size. | |
Enables you to grab and move (pan) the device view when the view is zoomed in. | |
Rotates the device screen clockwise. | |
Takes a screen shot of the device and attaches it to the incident. You can then add a description, view, download, or delete the screen shot. | |
Starts recording the remote control session. Recording can be paused and resumed. When you stop recording, the video is automatically attached to the incident. You can then add a description, replay, download, or delete the recording.

Enables you, and optionally the device user, to draw on the device screen. When you select this option, a drawing toolbar appears at the bottom of the page. The drawing toolbar contains the following tools:

Opens the Preferences dialog box in which you can save your preferences for video recording (whether to record mouse movements, record mouse clicks, or include the device skin) and the screen capture file format (GIF, JPEG, BMP, or PNG). | |
Navigates back to the device's home screen. | |
Navigates back to the previous device screen. | |
Raises the device volume. | |
Lowers the device volume. | |
Locks or unlocks the device screen. | |
Opens the device menu. |
Device Snapshot Toolbar
When you select the Device Snapshot view, the toolbar that appears at the right side of the page provides tools that enable you to send a check-in request to the device, refresh the device information, and save the information and attach it to the incident.
Updates the device snapshot information after a device check-in. If the device checks in again, a red dot will appear, indicating that you can update the device snapshot information. | |
Saves the device snapshot information and attaches it to the incident. | |
Sends a check-in request to the device so the device snapshot information can be updated. The device must be online to check in.
Note: After the device has successfully checked in, you must click the Refresh Snapshot tool to update the device snapshot information.
