Managed Apple Accounts (Formerly Apple IDs)

A Managed Apple account is a type of Apple account specifically designed for organizations, such as businesses or educational institutions. These accounts are created and managed by the organization, separate from personal Apple accounts, to help increase productivity and provide necessary services to employees, instructors, and students. Select the type of Managed Apple account authorized to enroll using this add devices rule. You do this when:

General

Federated Accounts Use a Microsoft Entra ID connection to federate your Managed Apple account.
Note: Managed Apple accounts are required for enrolling users via federated accounts. See Intro to Federated Authentication with Apple Business Manager.
Local Accounts Add locally Managed Apple accounts. You can add up to 1,000 accounts, which must be valid email addresses (for example, user@domain or user@domain.topleveldomain).
Tip: Select Import to upload a .csv file containing Managed Apple accounts. Include only Managed Apple accounts, one per line, with no header.
Note: Managed Apple accounts for local accounts must be manually specified or generated. See About Managed Apple Accounts in Apple Business Manager.
