Assigning App Policies

Select which devices or device groups SOTI MobiControl assigns an app policy to (see Assigning App Policies). You can also assign or re-assign a policy when:

Creating a new app policy (see Creating App Policies)
Editing an existing app policy (see Editing App Policies)

To configure an app policy, navigate to the Assign dialog panel.

Navigate to the hamburger menu and select Policies > Apps.
Create a new app policy or right-click on an existing policy and select Assign.

Devices

In the Devices tab, you select the devices or device groups that SOTI MobiControl assigns the policy to. Assigning an App Policy to a Device Group

Note: Entering information in the Devices tab is mandatory.

Select a device group in the left panel and the enrolled devices in that group display in the right panel. To select or deselect individual devices, select the checkbox to the left of the device name.

Note: You can use the Search icon to find device groups. Type a complete or partial name a device group in the text field. If the search finds matches, SOTI MobiControl replaces the initially displayed "all groups" list with the matching groups. You can return to the "all groups" list by selecting the x icon in the search field.

Users

Note: Entering information in the Users tab is optional.

Use the Users tab to select one or more directory services or identity provider groups that SOTI MobiControl uses to assess which devices you want to assign the policy.

You can specify that devices belonging to a directory service or identity provider group are either included in, or excluded from the compliance policy assignment.

Filters

Note: Entering information in the Filters tab is optional.

Use the Filters tab to further restrict which devices SOTI MobiControl assigns the policy to. Filters use the same logic as the Devices search bar to apply criteria.

Select the Add a filter field to activate it. A dropdown list appears with the extended and device properties that you can use to refine your assignment criteria.

Use the logical and boolean operators to construct filters:

Use AND to limit assignment to only those devices which meet all the criteria.
Use OR to enable assignment to any device that meets at least one criterion.

Note: Not all extended or device properties are available for use with filter criteria. SOTI MobiControl does not support all filter types on all platforms.

To edit a filter, double-click the filter and the mouse cursor beside the filter value. Edit the value or select the operator to edit the operator.

To remove a filter, select it and once it turns blue, select Delete.

Restriction: You must have "Manage Saved Assignment Filter" and "View Saved Assignment Filter" permissions to use saved filters.

Note: You can save assignment filters across profiles and policies. To save a filter, navigate to the Filters tab while assigning the profile/policy, create your filter query, and save it. You can view and manage saved filters and modify or delete them.

Note: When deleting assignment filters, you must remove them from the profiles/policies that are using them.

Options

Use the Options section to define the assignment and deployment schedule of app policies.


Setting	Description
Assign Date	Choose an option to set the policy assignment date: Assign Next Update Schedule Custom
Disable Date	Enable this option to specify the date to disable the policy.
Custom Deployment Schedule	Enable this option to set a deployment schedule for applications. Specify: Start and end times Days of the week recurrence patterns Tip: Add multiple schedules for increased flexibility. Important: This option is only available for the Android Enterprise platform.
