SOTI Hub: Add New Content Repository
The content repository stores files that device users can access through the SOTI Hub app. You configure this when:
Content Repository Settings
Repository Type | Choose the type of repository that hosts your content:
Important: Some settings are not available
depending on the selected repository type. |
Repository URL | Enter the repository site URL. The SOTI Hub app uses this URL to access the
content repository server. You may specify the port as part of the
URL. If you plan to route traffic through the Enterprise Resource Gateway, specify the internal URL used to access the content repository server. Note: You do not need to enter a
Repository URL for OneDrive for
Business, OneDrive, or Box repositories. Important: For the Repository Type,
when you choose Content library, SOTI MobiControl automatically sets the Repository
URL value to be its internal Content Library’s Library path
value. This automatic setting is not visible in the SOTI MobiControl user interface. You can change the
Library path (thereby also the Repository URL) using Manage
Library. |
Server Address | Enter the server address that the SOTI Hub application will
use to access the SMB repository. The port is optional. If not specified, the default port 445 will be used. Note: Ensure that the IP address is valid. For
domain names, use the format:
subdomain.example.com .Note: This configuration is only available for
the SMB repository type. |
Disable Listing of all SMB Shares | Enable this option to add specific SMB shares to the repository, rather than including
all selected SMB shares. Add Shares: Select the button to add specific SMB shares to the SMB repository. Note: This configuration is only available for
the SMB repository type. |
Path | Enter a path to a sub folder of the content repository if you do
not want your device users to have access to the entire repository.
You can specify only one folder path. If you leave the field blank,
SOTI Hub selects all folders under the
Repository URL. Important: For the
Repository Type, when you choose Content Library, select to add a set of Files
and Folders. SOTI MobiControl then
automatically sets this Path value to be all the files and
folders you have added and selected. Note: This automatic setting is not visible in
the SOTI MobiControl user
interface. |
Restrict File Types | Restrict which file types your device users can access based on
the file extension. Device users only see those files types
specified by the filter. SOTI Hub hides
all other files from the device user. Enter file filters with the following format: *.extension You can separate different extension types with commas. For example: *.doc, *.pdf, *.txt |
Restrict Categories | SOTI Hub restricts all files classified as a certain category when uploading these files to the SOTI MobiControl Content Library. |
Alias | Specify a virtual folder within the SOTI Hub that consists of the content from that
repository. You can locate the Alias folder under the My Library
section of the SOTI Hub app. Note: If you do not set an Alias folder, the
directory structure of a repository begins directly under the My
Library section of the SOTI Hub app.
This can cause confusion when associating more than one
repository with the SOTI Hub
app. Note: You can only use one
Alias per repository. Tip: You can use an
Alias to merge content from more than one repository into a
single location. Enter the same name in the Alias field of each
content repository that you want to merge and all content from
each repository appears under that heading. This is only
supported on WebDAV and SharePoint 2013
repositories. |
Domain | Specify the domain that SOTI Hub
prefixes to the username when exchanging login credentials with the
content repository server. SOTI Hub supports the following macro: %ENROLLEDUSER_DOMAIN% Note: To use macros,
enroll your devices using this domain. Note: This option is not available when a cloud
repository is the selected Repository Type. |
Prefill Username | Specify the username that SOTI Hub uses
to authenticate the SOTI Hub user to the
content repository server. This value appears in the username field
of the content repository's login page and cannot be edited. If a
username is not specified, SOTI Hub
prompts the user for login credentials. SOTI Hub supports the following macros:
Note: To use macros, you must enroll your devices using this
information. Note: If you do not
enter a username or username macro, the device user must enter
their own username that matches the Domain. Note: This option is not available when a cloud
repository is the selected Repository Type. |
Prefill Password | Specify a password that authenticates the SOTI Hub user to the content repository server.
If you specify a password in this field, the user is automatically
logged in to the corresponding repository. This option is available only when you select Prefill Username. If you pre-fill a password, device users are automatically logged in once they open the application on their device. Note: If you do not specify a password, the user
must enter a password that matches the Prefill Username. Note: This option is not available when a
you select cloud repository as the Repository Type.
|
Use Enterprise Resource Gateway | Force all devices to communicate with an Enterprise Resource
Gateway (ERG) to access the content repository. Note: See Using Enterprise Resource Gateway Servers
for more information on how ERG interacts with SOTI Hub
Note: This option is not available when a
cloud repository is the selected Repository Type.
|
Enterprise Resource Gateway | Choose the SOTI MobiControl Enterprise Resource
Gateway your devices use to access the content repository. Note: Only
ERGs that have the "Enable filtering network traffic to
Enterprise content" option selected appear in this drop-down
list. To select this ERG option, on the All Platforms tab select
on the Servers tab and right-click on the ERG you want devices
to use. On the popup menu, select Properties to open the ERG
Properties dialog box. Select Enterprise Content from the Filter
drop-down list and select the "Enable filtering of network
traffic to Enterprise content" option. |
Transfer Content Over Cellular | Enable device users to transfer content while connected to a cellular network. If you deselect this option, device users can only transfer content on Wi-Fi networks. |
Transfer Content While Roaming | Enable device users to transfer content while
roaming. Note: Enable Transfer Content Over Cellular to make this
option visible. Note: This option is available only on the
Android Plus platform. |
Mandatory File Fetch Settings
You can mark specific folders and files in the content repository as mandatory downloads for the SOTI Hub app. See Using Mandatory Files for more information.

- Path
- Filter
- Alias
- Domain
- Prefill Username
- Prefill Password

-
Turn on Enable File Fetch to configure file fetch settings.
-
Set a Fetch Interval in minutes. This value determines how often the SOTI Hub app checks the content repository for changes to the folders and files in the Folders and Files List. The minimum possible value for this field is 15 minutes. If a device has access to many content repositories with differing fetch intervals, the most frequent applies.
-
Under Files and Folders, select to add a mandatory file or folder. In the table, choose either a file or folder as the type.
-
Then enter a Path that continues the Repository URL and, if configured earlier, the Path specified in the content repository settings.
Note: For example, for a file whose full path is:http://mobicontrol.soti.net/products/sotioneplatformbrochure.pdf
The repository URL is http://mobicontrol.soti.net,
and you enter the path as: products/sotioneplatformbrochure.pdf.
Note: The path cannot start or end with / or \ and cannot contain any of the following characters:' " ` % \ + : * ? < >
-
Use the arrows under Order to control the order in which devices download files and folders.
Data Leakage Prevention Settings
Enable Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) settings to control how device users interact with the files in the content repository to limit the exposure of data. Supported file types are automatically opened in the SOTI Hub editor and you can choose whether device users can share content with other applications or print files from the repository.
Enable Data Leakage Prevention | When enabled, SOTI Hub opens SOTI Hub-supported file types in the SOTI Hub editor. The device user cannot open unsupported file types unless you add those file types to the Exclude File Formats field below. |
Enable File Edit | When enabled, device users can 'check out' files to make edits
and then 'check in' those edits to the repository. Note: This feature is not supported on WebDAV
repositories. |
Enable Copy and Paste | When enabled, device users can copy and paste content while
editing a document in SOTI Hub. Note: Enable Copy and Paste is only
available if Enable DLP Settings and Enable File Edit are
also enabled.
Note: This feature is not supported on
WebDAV repositories. |
Enable File Upload | When enabled, device users can upload new files to the content repository. |
Enable File Share | When enabled, device users can share SOTI Hub files with other applications. |
Enable File Print | When enabled, device users can print SOTI Hub files directly from the SOTI Hub editor. |
Exclude File Formats | When enabled, a third-party app opens the chosen file types
instead of the SOTI Hub editor. If you
have any unsupported file types in your content repository, this
option to enables users to open them in the third-party app.
Otherwise, SOTI Hub blocks your users from
opening the unsupported file. Note: When specifying more than one file
type, separate them with a comma.
|
Open Hyperlinks in SOTI Surf | When enabled, the SOTI Surf browser opens all hyperlinks in SOTI Hub. If the SOTI Surf app is not installed on the device, SOTI Hub opens the Google Play Store or Apple App Store where the device user can download the SOTI Surf app. |
Supported File Types
The following file types are automatically opened using the SOTI Hub editor when you enable DLP settings. SOTI Hub blocks device users from opening any unsupported file types unless you add those file types to the Exclude File Formats field. SOTI Hub opens excluded files through an appropriate third-party app.
