Uploading Samsung Devices to Knox E-FOTA

About this task

Once the Samsung Knox E-FOTA configuration is setup in Global settings, the next step in firmware management is to upload your Samsung devices to Samsung Knox E-FOTA server.

To upload your Samsung devices:

Procedure

  1. From main menu navigate to Global Settings > Android > Samsung Knox E-FOTA.
  2. Select Configure to manage auto upload of SOTI MobiControl enrolled devices to Samsung Knox E-FOTA servers.
  3. Toggle on the Auto Upload MobiControl enrolled devices to Knox E-FOTA and configure the Frequency for Auto Upload.
Note: You can manually upload device(s) using Upload Device(s) to Knox E-FOTA device action.

Enrollment process starts once the device is successfully uploaded. Upon successful enrollment, the license count decreases. To increase the license count, administrators must unenroll the device from Samsung Knox E-FOTA by selecting the Unenroll Device(s) from Knox E-FOTA device action.

New device actions are available for Samsung devices once the device is successfully uploaded. See Available Device Actions for more details.
Note: Enrollment fails if the device is not uploaded first.

Once device uploads successfully, more device information appears in device details tab. See firmware upgrades for more details. Administrators can use this labels to search for devices in SOTI MobiControl. These labels are not indexed by default and thus administrators must index them first before using. See Searching With Properties for more details.

Note: Unenrolling or deleting a device, SOTI MobiControl requests Samsung to remove the device from the Samsung Knox E-FOTA portal. If the device is not deleted, the user must manually access the Knox Portal to complete the deletion process.

What to do next

After successfully uploading the devices to Samsung Knox E-FOTA, next step is to send required Samsung Knox client to the devices. See Configuring App Policy for Samsung Knox E-FOTA for details.
