Shared Device Error States

Occasionally, devices with a Shared Device configuration my experience issues while logging in or out of Shared Device mode. If that occurs, you may be able to fix the issue. See Troubleshooting Shared Devices for instructions.

Check the Device Information panel of a device experiencing an issue to see which type of error is causing the problem.

Depending on the current error states of the device, the Troubleshoot Shared Device device action will try to either bypass the error state and continue the login or log out process or it will retry the current state of the device to resolve the error state. Some error states cannot be bypassed and will always be retried when executing the Shared Device device action. These error states are marked.

Error State Code Description
Log In Error - Removing Managed Apps Occurs when data or apps from a previous user were not successfully cleared from the device.
Log In Error - Removing Profiles Occurs when profiles assigned to a previous user were not successfully removed from the device.
Log In Error - Relocation Device Occurs when the device does not successfully enter its designated device group, whether that is its original home group or a group mapped to the user attempting to log in.
Note: The Troubleshoot Shared Device device action cannot bypass this error state. Instead it will retry the current state of the device to resolve the error.
Log In Error Encompasses any other errors that can occur during the log in process but are not covered by the previously mentioned log in error cases.

Log Out Error - Disabling Passcode Occurs when passcode was not disabled on device following the previous user's log out.
