Managing Access on a WebDAV Server

If you are using a Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) WebDAV server for your SOTI Hub content repository, you can control access to the folders of your enterprise content.

You can restrict access based on file type or user or both.

On your WebDAV machine

Open your Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and log into your WebDAV server.
Click your server name to expand the server tree directory.
Click to expand Sites and then click to expand Default Site.
Select the folder whose permissions you want to modify.
In the center pane, double-click WebDAV Authoring Rules to view the existing rules.
Note: Access permissions are inherited from parent folders. If your new permissions are less restrictive than the inherited authoring rule, you must edit the inherited rule rather than create a new rule.
Double-click the existing rule to open the Edit Authoring Rule dialog.
Choose how you want to control access.

When you are satisfied with your new permissions, click OK to save the rule.

Your new settings will immediately apply to your SOTI Hub users.

Allow access to:

This section allows you to specify if the authoring rule applies to all content types or if some, specific, content types will be exempt from the rule.

You can enter specific file names (including file extensions) or use a wildcard (*) to exempt file types from the authoring rule. Multiple entries must be separated by a comma.

Allow access to this content to:

This section allows you to specify if the authoring rule applies to all users, to specific groups, to roles or to specific users. Multiple entries must be separated by a comma.

Permissions:

This section allows you to specify if the authoring rule allows Read, Write, or Source access for the specified content types and users.

None: No authoring is allowed.

Read: Read access is allowed.

Source: Access to source code is allowed

Write: Write access is allowed.
