Creating a Rule

About this task

In SOTI Connect you can manage devices through a set of rules that perform predefined actions at a specified time or in response to an event.

To create a new rule:

Procedure

  1. On the menu bar, click the main menu button and select Rules.
    The Rules view opens.
  2. In the Rules view, click New Rule.
    The Add Rule wizard opens.
  3. In the Select Rule Type wizard panel, select the type of rule you want to create, then click Next.
  4. In the Select Devices wizard panel, select the devices or device types you want this rule to apply to, then click Next.
  5. In the Setup wizard panel, select the required parameters for the rule according to the rule type, then click Finish.

Results

After you have completed the wizard, the new rule is listed in the right pane of the Rules view. If you need to make changes to it, you can click the rule in the list to open the Edit Rule wizard.

The rule will be triggered when the set time or event occurs.
