Upgrading a Device Agent

Before you begin

Note: SOTI strongly recommends that following an upgrade of SOTI MobiControl, you test device agents on select devices before completing a full rollout.

To upgrade SOTI MobiControl device agents:

  1. Open the SOTI MobiControl console.
  2. Specify which networks your device(s) can use to download the device agent.
    • If upgrading a single device, click on the device whose agent you want to upgrade to open its Device Information panel and open the Configurations tab.
    • If upgrading multiple devices within a single device group, right-click on the device group with the devices whose agents you want to upgrade and select Advanced Configurations.
  3. Open the Agent Upgrade Settings entry. For device groups, make sure to first select the right device family from the dropdown list in the top right.
  4. Enable the networks over which you want to permit devices to download agents and click OK to save your settings. Close the Details dialog.
  5. Select the device(s) whose agent(s) you want to upgrade and, in the Device Actions menu bar, select More > Enable Agent Upgrade.
  6. If applicable, click the warning message at the bottom of the dialog box to see why some of the selected devices will not allow agent upgrades.
  7. Click Enable Agent Upgrade.
  8. With the device(s) still selected, now select More > the Upgrade Agent Now icon in the Device Actions menu bar.
  9. If applicable, click the warning message at the bottom of the dialog box to see why SOTI MobiControl cannot push the agent to some of the selected devices.
  10. Click Upgrade Agent Now.

Devices with out of date agents will download and install the latest available agent.
