System Logs

Review system log messages to keep track of the events happening in your SOTI MobiControl deployment. SOTI MobiControl reports log messages for events in all SOTI MobiControl components, including the database, the management service, the deployment server, and the deployment server extensions.

Log messages are stored in the SOTI MobiControl database. Excessive log data can overwhelm your database if your system is set to collect a lot of information. The recommended log level for each component is Error, unless you're troubleshooting, in which case, setting log levels to more verbose levels is useful for gathering valuable information. You can set data truncation instructions to reduce the space occupied by system log messages and keep your database working smoothly. You can also archive your truncated data and save it in another location for later reference.

SOTI MobiControl performs data truncation during nightly maintenance, which occurs at midnight local time of the management service. However, the management service determines which log records to truncate based on their UTC time stamp.

Tip: Quickly review system log messages from the Servers tab. Select SOTI MobiControl from the top left corner to see system log messages or a specific deployment or management server to see log messages related to that server.
