Manage Registry Settings for Windows Modern Devices

Manage device registry settings for your Windows Modern devices.

Before you begin

Users require the ManageWindowsRegistry permission to import or delete registry files. Administrators have this permission by default.

About this task

Registry management lets users edit and manage registry settings on Windows Modern devices. Manage registry settings when standard options do not suffice, and you need to configure Windows or applications beyond default settings. This helps you meet security, performance, or compliance requirements.
Note: Supported registry data types for the HKLM (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) hive include:
  • REG_SZ: String value
  • REG_BINARY: Binary data
  • REG_DWORD: 32-bit number
  • REG_EXPAND_SZ: Expandable string
  • REG_MULTI_SZ: Multi-line string
  • REG_QWORD: 64-bit number
Important: Do not upload registry keys related to system performance, memory consumption, or critical processes. These may require specific conditions and cause delays.
